Americans have been the recipients of the blessings of liberty for over 200 years. No nation in history has been so blessed. This country’s founding documents, with the correction for slavery made by Lincoln, opened the door to individual sovereignty and liberty – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness made up of a people who love the Lord and their neighbor as themselves – a moral people. For no others will these documents work. The founders – relying on the Bible – based their documents on the word of the Lord, the Spirit of the Lord, and the law of the Lord. The Savior said, "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32) This statement is usually thought of in the context of the gospel, but Americans, because of our inspired founding documents, have enjoyed this "Land of the Free (a land of Liberty)" for these 200 plus years in a governmental sense.

Now, this nation is moving from liberty to captivity and spiraling down in immorality. This because we have, as a nation, turned from God – especially in our government leadership. There is only one way to reverse the trend; repent and turn back to God, who is the author of our liberty and freedom. Connor Boyack in his book Latter-Day Liberty shares the following poignant perspective, "The genius of the American experiment was the elevation of the individual as the sovereign – affirming that each person has unalienable rights – and creation of government that operated only by individual assent, insofar as each person’s liberty was protected." Regarding this country’s founding documents, John Adams insightfully shared, "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." Adding to this Thomas Jefferson reverently questioned, "And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath?" And His wrath will come if the trend toward immorality and forgetting the God of this land (Jesus Christ) continues.

As Americans we are guilty of both moral sins and of political sins, which has brought about the moral decay and allowed God to be removed from government and education institutions. The political seriousness of our situation is profoundly enumerated in a book by Trevor Loudon, Barack Obama and the Enemies Within. You can get Trevor’s book from his web site: www.trevorloudon.com. He is traveling around the country – speaking to patriotic conservatives who love their country -- knowing that there are many more of us than there are of them "…the enemies within." If everyone knew what was really going on, "we could win the day" and turn our country around. We could regain the liberty and freedoms that we have lost because we have turned from God as a nation. We could become again a happy, prosperous, and independent, sovereign nation as we turn back to God "and live," – realizing the blessings promised by our countries founding documents. In our Declaration of independence we read, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

If everyone would listen to these talks, they would vote correctly this November, and the majority of Americans, who are a moral and patriotic people, could "keep the stagecoach from going over the cliff" – avoiding the demise of this the greatest nation in history.
